I chose a life verse in my mid-twenties. It was a statement. For years I had compared myself to society and felt I had REALLY missed out. But then I read Matthew 6:33, “Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” It comforted me. It held me together. It promised me that if I kept God first, I would never miss out. In fact, everything God intended would be mine.
And as the years tick on, this verse still holds true, even though my circumstances have totally changed. I still seek him first and he still gives all things. Strength to step out. Courage to speak. The spark to imagine.
He is so good.

Lovely, Dear Eva…
How interesting. This was a key life verse for me/us about house purchase as we lived in rented accommodation until I was 65 (last year). And now we live in our own wonderful forever home in the country but in the middle of a village community.
We simply praise God for His faithfulness!
He is so good!
Thanks.
Thank you!
Beautiful! I love how this passage so deeply met your need with its truth!
Interestingly, I’ve been reviewing my life verse recently which I picked when I was 20. I like it best in the Living Bible, “ The Lord Himself is my inheritance my prize He is my food and drink my highest joy. He guards all that is mine.“ Psalm 16:5,6. After reading your thoughts on your verse I was wondering what drew me to this verse and I think it had to do with my deep need for intimacy and not being alone.
So beautiful, Lani. Thank you for sharing. God really does meet us in our deepest places.
